12.12.202512:34:28UTC+00Mexico Industrial Output Declines for Seventh Month

In October 2025, Mexico's industrial production saw a year-on-year decrease of 0.4%, which was significantly less than the anticipated 2.4% decline. This followed a 2.3% drop observed in September. Despite marking the seventh consecutive month of contraction, the decline was mitigated as mining output decreased by only 0.7% compared to a 3.2% decrease previously recorded. Notably, sectors such as construction and utilities experienced a resurgence, with construction growing by 2.5% in contrast to an earlier 8.0% decline, and utilities increasing by 1.9% following a 0.1% drop. On the downside, manufacturing output contracted further, falling by 1.3% compared to the previous 0.7% decline. Adjusted for seasonal variations, the monthly industrial output experienced a 0.7% increase, surpassing expectations of no change and reversing a prior 0.3% decrease. For the year to date, industrial activity has contracted by 1.7% compared to the initial ten months of 2024.
