12.12.202513:36:26UTC+00Canada’s Industrial Capacity Utilization Up in Q3

In the third quarter of 2025, Canada's industrial capacity utilization increased to 78.5%, rising from a revised figure of 77.6% in the previous quarter. This figure, however, fell short of market expectations, which had forecasted a rise to 79.3%. The construction sector saw a notable increase in capacity utilization, up by 1.3 percentage points to 80.2%, marking its first quarterly improvement after eight consecutive declines, largely due to heightened activity in engineering construction. Similarly, the manufacturing sector experienced a gain of 1.2 percentage points, reaching 77.8%, with significant contributions from petroleum and coal product manufacturing, which jumped by 10.8 percentage points, and transportation equipment manufacturing, which increased by 1.8 percentage points. The mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction sector also saw a modest rise of 0.7 percentage points, taking it to 77.1%, driven by robust oil and gas extraction activities. On the other hand, the capacity utilization rate in the electric power generation, transmission, and distribution sector declined by 1.7 percentage points to 78.8%, primarily due to lower hydroelectric generation as a result of dry conditions.
