Finland’s consumer confidence indicator rose to -5.3 in June 2026 from -10.5 in May, reaching its highest level since February 2002, when the gauge was last in positive territory. Despite the improvement, confidence remained well below the long-term average of -2.9.

Households were less pessimistic about their current financial situation (-3.0 vs -6.7 in May), and expectations regarding the overall Finnish economy improved markedly (-6.3 vs -21.9). Views on personal finances over the next 12 months also strengthened (7.0 vs 0.7).

Consumers continued to see the timing for purchasing durable goods as somewhat unfavorable, but slightly less so than before (-13.0 vs -16.8). At the same time, saving intentions improved (-9.6 vs -11.4).

Labor market sentiment also brightened, with 21% of respondents expecting unemployment to decrease over the coming year. However, inflation expectations stayed elevated: consumers still anticipated an inflation rate of 4.6% over the next 12 months.
