In October 2025, Romania's industrial production experienced a year-on-year increase of 0.2%, matching the growth rate seen in September. Notably, there was a significant rise in output within the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector, which climbed by 6%, compared to a modest 0.1% in the previous month. This boost was primarily driven by increased production in capital goods, consumer durables, and energy sectors. Conversely, the mining and quarrying industry saw an accelerated decline of 4.2%, worsening from a 1.2% drop. This downturn was largely due to reduced outputs in coal, lignite, crude petroleum, natural gas, and other mining activities. Additionally, manufacturing production experienced a 0.3% decrease, reversing a 0.5% gain from September, with downturns in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products, chemical products, basic metals, and electrical equipment. On a monthly comparison, industrial output rose by 0.4% in October, showing a decrease in momentum from a 1.1% rise in the previous period.
