Belgium’s annual inflation slowed to 3.4% in June 2026, down from 4.08% in May, marking the first deceleration in four months. Energy inflation eased to 10.3% from 11.2%. Motor fuel prices were still 18.8% higher than a year earlier but declined 6.4% compared with the previous month.

The overall moderation in inflation was also supported by food prices, which edged down 0.1% in June after increasing 1.2% in May, and by weaker price growth in transport (5.5% vs 7.9%). Inflation also cooled in several other categories: clothing and footwear (1.2% vs 2.3%), furnishings (0.1% vs 0.4%), information and communication (1.6% vs 1.9%), and restaurants and hotels (4.1% vs 5.9%).

By contrast, inflation picked up for housing and utilities (4.6% vs 3.6%), driven by a sharper rise in electricity prices (6.2% vs 2.9%), and accelerated slightly for recreation and culture (8.3% vs 8.1%) and health (6.7% vs 6.6%). Inflation remained unchanged in education (2.4%) and financial services (2.2%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.3% in June after a 0.08% increase in May.
